Abstract

The aim of this dissertation is to provide an overview of the Russian art of animation, a topic scarsely investigated in Italy and mostly unknown to the common Italian audience up to this day, while presenting a translation into Italian of an animated series from the Soviet era. The series chosen to be translated is based on Krokodil Gena i ego druzya, a children book written by Eduard Uspensky. Director Roman Kachanov, art director Leonid Shvartsman and composer Vladimir Shainsky contributed to the creation of the animated series, which gained incredible success in the Soviet Union and in current Russian Federation.
